Perform a Ping

A ping is a simple request for a reply from an internet node. A ping to see if you are having any packet loss. If there is no reply, then there is packet loss.
  1. Enter your DOS prompt. Click Start | Programs | Accessories | MS-DOS Prompt
  2. Goto your base directory C:\
  3. Use the ping DOS command.
    For example, to ping to Nexon game service
    C:\>ping 206.112.96.1 >> Ping.txt
    If you are testing the internet connection to a different computer, you must specify its address instead of Nexon's game service address.

    This command will create a text file named Nexon_P.txt that you can e-mail to the lagging node. To find this file:

    1. Goto your Desktop.
    2. Double-click on My Computer.
    3. Double-click on Drive C:\.
    4. Search in this folder for Ping.txt.
  4. Open Ping.txt to view results.
  5. If the result states a reply, then there is a connection. If there is no reply or a time out, then there is an internet connection problem between your computer and the destination.
